Tutor In Math
Peter was born and raised in Tampa, and attended H.B. Plant High School. Upon graduation, he spent two years as an Aerospace Engineering major at the University of Central Florida. He realized that he would serve better as an educator, and decided to change his major to Psychology so that he could have a better understanding of human thought processes. He graduated in 2013 with a B.S. in Psychology, and has spent the last 4 years working as both a teacher and tutor in the Orlando and Tampa Bay area.
When working with students, he tries to find skill gaps and fill them in with the necessary knowledge. In his opinion, many students only presently struggle because of key concepts they are missing from the past. In effect, he places great emphasis on fundamentals; including mental math. Above all, it is important that Math be kept as simple as possible. To Peter, all students have skills hidden in the recesses of their minds, which are waiting to be unlocked.
Peter believes that it is important to explain to students how Math concepts relate to the real world. Often times students are overwhelmed with unnecessary Mathematical jargon, which can dissuade them from developing an interest in the subject. Knowing and appreciating Math can ultimately change the trajectory of a student’s education in a positive way. He hopes that today’s students will eventually become the scientists of the future; applying Math in experimental ways so that we may better understand the world we live in.
